Our Programs

Supportive Services

A Recovery Community Organization (RCO) is a nonprofit organization that is focused on supporting individuals in recovery from substance use disorders, and/or mental and behavioral health disorders. RCOs are typically peer-led, meaning they are staffed by people with lived experience of recovery, and they provide a range of services such as support groups, educational programs, and advocacy for recovery-friendly policies. Their mission is to promote long-term recovery by creating supportive, inclusive environments where individuals can connect, share experiences, and access resources to maintain their recovery journey.

We DO NOT require that you be sober, or have experience with substance use or mental/behavioral health to receive services.

Hopeful Grounds Association is an Oklahoma Alliance for Recovery Resources (OKARR) Certified Recovery Community Organization. This signifies that the RCO operates with integrity, adheres to best practices in recovery support, and follows ethical and operational guidelines that align with state and national recovery principles. Certification demonstrates the organization's commitment to providing high-quality, peer-led recovery services while maintaining accountability and effectiveness in supporting individuals on their recovery journey.

Recovery-Based, Skills-Based & Education Groups

IThe groups that we offer are designed to support individuals in their recovery journey. These groups can be broken down into three main types: recovery-based groups, skills-based groups, and educational groups.

  • Recovery-Based Groups: These groups focus on providing emotional and peer support for individuals in recovery. They create a safe, supportive environment where participants can share their experiences, challenges, and successes. These groups may include 12-step meetings, support circles, or peer-led discussion groups where individuals can connect with others who understand their struggles.

  • Skills-Based Groups: These groups focus on teaching practical skills that help individuals navigate everyday life and maintain their recovery. Topics may include stress management, coping strategies, communication skills, goal setting, and time management. The aim is to equip participants with the tools they need to thrive in their personal and professional lives while maintaining their recovery.

  • Educational Groups: These groups provide information and resources to help individuals better understand addiction, recovery, and related topics. Educational groups may cover subjects like the science of addiction, relapse prevention, mental health, or family dynamics in recovery. The goal is to empower individuals with knowledge, reduce stigma, and encourage informed decision-making as they move through their recovery process.

By offering these diverse groups, RCOs provide holistic support, helping individuals build the emotional, practical, and intellectual foundation needed to sustain their

Court Advocacy

We provide court advocacy services to help individuals navigate the legal system with a focus on increasing access to treatment rather than incarceration. We advocate with courts, legal professionals, and individuals to ensure that treatment options, such as rehabilitation or therapy, are prioritized over punitive measures. The organization helps individuals access the necessary support and resources to address substance use and mental health issues as part of their legal process.

We assist with inmate discharge planning, ensuring that individuals leaving incarceration have a smooth transition back into society by connecting them with ongoing treatment, recovery resources, and support networks to reduce the risk of recidivism and promote long-term recovery.

Additionally, we provide diversion services to individuals navigating the criminal justice system. Diversion services are programs designed to redirect individuals involved in the criminal justice system away from traditional incarceration and toward treatment or rehabilitation. These services are typically offered as an alternative to jail or prison for individuals with substance use or mental health issues. Through referral from the court system, individuals can be connected to treatment programs, support services, or recovery-focused interventions that address the root causes of their legal issues. The goal of diversion services is to reduce recidivism, promote recovery, and provide individuals with the support they need to reintegrate into society, rather than facing the consequences of incarceration.

Individual Peer Services

Individual peer support services involve one-on-one assistance from a trained peer recovery support specialist who has lived experience with addiction and recovery. The peer support specialist works closely with the individual to help them navigate the challenges of recovery and everyday life. This includes offering emotional support, sharing coping strategies, and helping the individual set and achieve personal goals.

A key aspect of peer support is the peer specialist walking alongside the individual through each stage of their recovery and life, acknowledging that certain experiences or situations may feel unfamiliar or challenging. For someone in recovery, what may be "normal" for others, like managing work, relationships, or daily routines, can feel overwhelming or confusing. The peer support specialist helps the individual understand and adapt to these life stages, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical advice from a place of shared experience.

By offering empathy, understanding, and personal insights, peer support helps individuals feel less isolated and more empowered to navigate the "normal" aspects of life that might seem daunting at first, ultimately helping them build a fulfilling and sustainable life in recovery.

Access to Substance Use & Behavioral/Mental Health Treatment

We provide critical support by helping individuals access substance use and mental/behavioral health treatment. This often involves assisting individuals in making contact with treatment providers and arranging both inpatient and outpatient care.

The organization acts as a bridge, offering guidance on navigating treatment options, facilitating connections to appropriate healthcare professionals, and supporting individuals in overcoming barriers to accessing care.

By providing this assistance, the RCO ensures individuals receive the necessary treatment for substance use and mental health issues, helping them take the first steps toward healing and long-term recovery.

Community Outreach

We provide community outreach by engaging with local organizations, individuals, and groups to raise awareness about recovery resources and reduce the stigma associated with substance use and mental health disorders. Through outreach efforts, the RCO helps to educate the community about the importance of recovery, the services available, and how to access support.

These efforts may include hosting informational events, providing resources at local meetings, collaborating with other service providers, and offering presentations to schools, businesses, and community groups. By fostering connections and promoting recovery-friendly environments, the RCO plays a vital role in building a supportive, inclusive community for individuals in recovery.

Linkage and Referral to Outside Resources

We provide linkage and referrals to outside resources by connecting individuals with essential services such as food, housing, clothing, employment assistance, and more. The organization helps identify the specific needs of individuals and assists them in accessing these critical community resources. This can involve providing information about local shelters, food pantries, job training programs, or clothing donation centers, as well as facilitating direct referrals to ensure individuals receive the support they need. By addressing these basic needs, the RCO helps individuals stabilize their lives, making it easier for them to focus on their long-term success.
